When Wanting Someone Feels Like Losing Yourself: DYLI's "Bad 4 U"
By Wax Staff · July 4, 2026

The Stockton, California singer's new single is a hyperventilating account of wanting someone too much.
DYLI is back with a new single that captures the physical toll of catching real feelings.
On June 12, the singer-songwriter shared "Bad 4 U," a track that finds her moving between clipped, breathless verses and a looping, anxious hook, all built around the specific discomfort of desire that borders on too much.
In the song, DYLI details the nervous, can't-shake-it symptoms of obsession, hyperventilating around someone, wanting another touch while worrying she's overstepping, and waiting on someone to confess how they feel back. It's a portrait of wanting someone that doesn't tidy itself up into something more palatable.
"Bad 4 U" arrives as the latest example of DYLI's genre-fluid approach, following singles like "MmmHmm," "18+," and "Tokyo," each of which found her moving through different corners of soul, pop, and R&B. The new track also folds in a shoutout to the 209 area code, a nod to the Stockton scene she came up in before returning home in recent years.
DYLI has been performing since she was eleven years old, and has since shared stages at SXSW and worked alongside collaborators including drummer Fabian Egger and choreographer Cedric Botelho. "Bad 4 U" is out now.
